  1. Non-verbal Communication (350 Words or more).

One of the problems with non-verbal language is that it is difficult to interpret. You are giving a presentation to your associates at work (or classmates in class) and you observe the following non-verbal behavior in your audience members:

  • One associate/student is writing the entire time you are talking.
  • One associate/student is smiling although you are talking about a serious issue.
  • One associate/student has his/her eyes closed.

Discuss three possible interpretations of each non-verbal behavior and analyze how each interpretation would influence the speaker’s evaluation of audience feedback/change.

  1. Cultural Influences (350 words or more).

You are meeting with an international client in the Middle East and want to make sure you have addressed any cultural issues that might impact the success of your meeting.

  • Numerous theorists discuss cultural concepts. Using this information as a basis, discuss the concepts you would want to analyze and evaluate in order to prepare you and other company executives for the upcoming meeting.
  • Determine which of the concepts you discussed would be the hardest to analyze. Explain your reasoning.
  • Describe a worst case scenario involving the muddling of culture concepts. Determine the steps you (or your company) can take to ensure something similar never happens to you.

3a. Communication Process

Find a Web site that has an “About Us” section or a “Press Release” section.

Write a four (4) page paper addressing the following:

Locate your local Chamber of Commerce’s community profile either online or in printed material that describes your local community. Write a four (4) page paper on the following:

  • Illustrate the message’s view of the audience and stakeholders based on the written profile.
  • Create your own analysis of the community stakeholders and audience using the demographics, Geographic’s, psychographics, sociographic, usergraphics, and webographics described in this chapter.
  • Give two recommendations that would improve the message, based on audience analysis.
  • Provide your rationale as to why your version would be better than the original.
